Thursdays with Theodore, episode 8/3/06

Dear Readers,

Let's get straight to the mailbag. This week, there's a complex question from a loyal reader and true patriot, Jack X.

Jack X writes:

Dear Ted,

What do you think of Congressman Charlie Rangel making his decision to step down if the Democrats do not regain power in Congress after this year?

Also, what is the purpose of the draft bills he has proposed since the Iraqi invasion? Is he really trying to scare or ruin the lives of many people in our age group?

Sincerely,
Jack X

PS. Rangel is from Harlem and therefore cannot be considered a "west-coast liberal elite."

Jack, excellent question. By taking this stand, Rangel has shown just what a coward he and the rest of the hate-America-first Democrats are. I wish they would all take this position, so that when they lose, Republicans will completely control every branch of the government, rather than just having majorities in 2 of the 3 and full grasp of the other!

The draft bills he has introduced are part of his hate-America-first stand. He's trying to undermine the war, because he doesn't realize that we're fighting them there so we don't have to fight them here. Same song, different verse, Jack X.

And no matter where he's from, he can be part of the west-coast, liberal elite because he's sympathetic to their anti-American agenda.

Great questions as usual, Jack X. Thank you for loving America!

Well, Theodore, again, I must thank you for the compliments and for the answers to the questions.

To me, it sounds like Charlie Rangel (whose name ironically sounds like "Charlie's Angels") is taking the Sore-Losermann route our good Democrat nominees took back in 2000. The second things don't go their way, they bitch and moan. I really have no respect for anyone who does that, regardless of their beliefs or party affiliaton. Again, Rangel's trend with this also helps give the Democrats a bad name. (Un)fortunately, I believe that he and his evil draft bill will be returning in 2007 given the trend and tiredness the common American has with the current leadership. Then again, he's in his upper 70's, maybe it's time for him and other politicians who were born during the Depression to throw in the towel and go camping all across the country they hate so much with their winnebagos and cruise the Grand Canyon singing Judy Garland showtunes in their Hoveround chairs.

Yes, his comments, too, show that he does not like America, sort of like Jimmy Carter. It's interesting that after he lost to Ronald Reagan in 1980 that he really "disappeared" to his Plains, GA farm. Although, that area has good peanuts, and supposedly, Carter continues to make furniture, not to mention his work for Habitat for Humanity. In that way, I do respect the gentleman. Not every person can be president--not every person can do everything. That's the way God made us. Can I be given a gun and camouflage clothes that look like pajamas and told to shoot and kill people? Maybe only if my knee and shoulder do not dislocate.

Again, Teddy boy, your responses are very nice, and I appreciate it. I'll go back to my shell now, and maybe next week, I'll pull out an archived question and see what you think. Good night!

Jack X

oh, I forgot. My mother once said that she believed that when Al Gore was a kid, he was the one who would cry and pout if he didn't the prize for pinning the tail on the donkey at the birthday party.

Also, it's interesting how his former running mate is facing quite a challenge up in Connecticut. It's always interesting to see a senior Congressman or Senator get dethroned by a rookie.

Couldn't agree more. How dare Gore seek to undermine our democracy by having every vote counted!

And Lieberman - poor guy. He's the one good one in the whole Democratic camp. But the west-coast, liberal elite Connecticut Dems apparently want an actual Democrat. What are they thinking?
